HA

Hairul Azmi

Shah Alam, Selangor

I came in because I'd been turned away from the JPN counter twice — different reasons each time. The officer here actually went through my situation properly and told me exactly what was missing. The route card covered things I hadn't thought to ask about. Third visit to JPN after the session — done in under 40 minutes.

Lim Cheng Yee

Came here after spending three evenings reading conflicting information online about community hall registration. The session cleared up the confusion in about 30 minutes. The officer was honest that one part of my situation might need a separate referral, which I appreciated — they didn't just give me a vague answer and send me on my way.

My mother doesn't speak much English and I was worried about getting the right information for her welfare programme registration. Sree Valli conducted the session in Tamil, which made such a difference. We came out with a clear list of what to bring. The follow-up message she sent two days later answered a question that had been nagging at me.

My son joined the Youth Civic Basics programme after his SPM. I was curious what five weeks of after-school sessions would actually cover — turns out, quite a lot. He came home after week two able to explain the difference between a federal and state service office. The certificate and workbook were well-designed, not the usual stapled printout.

I was relocating from Johor and had a long list of things I needed to sort out — driving licence transfer, neighbourhood registration, school catchment information. The officer was clear about which items she could map out for me and which were outside their scope. It saved me from booking a session expecting something they don't do. The route card for the licence transfer was particularly useful — I didn't even know there were two counters involved.

HR Manager · Ara Damansara

We brought in Wayfinder Nook for eight new team members joining from different parts of Malaysia and one from Singapore. The tailored handbook was thorough — neighbourhood transport, the nearest MPSelangor office, community resources. The weekly helpdesk hours were quietly useful; the questions that came in week four were things we couldn't have predicted at the start.

Challenge

A retiree in his late 60s living in SS2, Petaling Jaya, needed to update his address on both his MyKad and his pension records after moving from Penang. He had visited two different offices and been sent away each time — once because he had the wrong form, and once because the counter had changed its process without a public update.

Session

The information officer confirmed which office handled each change separately, clarified the current form numbers, and identified that the pension update required a supporting letter from his previous state office — something he'd not been told before. The session took 55 minutes. He left with a two-page route card, one card per office.

Outcome

Both updates were completed within three weeks. He used the follow-up message to ask one clarifying question about the supporting letter format, which the officer answered the same day. He later enrolled his granddaughter in the Youth Civic Basics cohort that started in July.

"Three visits had gone nowhere. One session here sorted out what I was missing." — client, SS2 PJ

Challenge

A technology company in Ara Damansara was onboarding eleven new employees — seven from different Malaysian states and four from abroad — within the same two-week period. The HR manager had no local knowledge of Klang Valley services and was spending significant time answering individual questions from staff about basic neighbourhood admin.

Programme

Wayfinder Nook delivered a six-week orientation programme. The handbook was tailored to the Ara Damansara and Petaling Jaya area. Two half-day group sessions covered neighbourhood services and everyday admin in weeks one and four. The weekly helpdesk handled questions about transport, community registration, and local utilities as they came up naturally across the six weeks.

Outcome

By week six, the HR manager reported that individual admin queries to her team had dropped noticeably compared to their previous onboarding cycle. Staff described the handbook as genuinely useful rather than a formality. The company renewed the programme for a second cohort beginning in September 2025.

"The handbook alone was worth it. The helpdesk hours handled everything else." — HR Manager, Ara Damansara
